Hi, I’m Chelsea Miller, scientist turned wedding planner, and the heart behind Van der Vows. My journey to this world has been anything but traditional. Originally from Ohio and raised in Georgia, I spent the early part of my career immersed in chemistry, where I honed my skills in precision, problem-solving, and creativity. From academic chapters in Texas and Massachusetts to my first industry job in San Diego, I’ve always followed my curiosity. It ultimately led me here to San Francisco, where Van der Vows was born.

Though I loved the structure and inventiveness of science, I found myself equally drawn to the art of designing beautiful spaces, curating thoughtful experiences, and celebrating life's most meaningful moments. My years of scientific training made me an expert in planning, organization, and budgeting. A foundation that now allows me to approach every event with both precision and creativity. It didn’t take long to realize that the same meticulous attention to detail that made me a great scientist could also make me a trusted planner and creative partner.

I launched Van der Vows to offer a wedding planning experience that feels elevated, seamless, and deeply personal. And when it came to crossing borders, there was no better collaborator than my sister-from-another-mister, Petra Vogel. With her company, Wedding Melodies, based in Switzerland, we’ve created a transatlantic partnership that brings unforgettable celebrations to life, whether you're saying “I do” in the U.S., Europe, or anywhere in between.​
